West Elm Launches Sustainable TENCEL Bedding

West Elm introduced a new Crescent Stitch Quilt & Shams collection made from silky TENCELâ„¢, an eco-friendly fiber known for its moisture-wicking and hypoallergenic properties. This launch aligns with the increasing demand from Tampa clients for sustainable and wellness-enhancing textiles. TENCEL's soft, neutral palette fits seamlessly into minimalist design schemes.

West Elm aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and already utilizes recycled and upcycled materials where possible. Over half of their wood furniture is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. In 2019, they saved over 2 billion liters of water by sourcing organic cotton. TENCEL lyocell is produced by Lenzing AG, known for its closed-loop system that recovers and reuses almost all solvents and water. This process reduces water consumption by 95% compared to cotton. TENCEL is made from sustainably sourced wood, often eucalyptus, which requires less water and pesticides than cotton. Tampa interior design trends for 2026 include a move towards warmer, more grounded color palettes with natural wood grains and darker stains like walnut. Designers are incorporating richer tones such as deep teals, muted greens, and warm neutrals. Biophilic design, which integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, is also gaining popularity. TENCEL is biodegradable and compostable, further minimizing its environmental impact. Its smooth fibers are gentle on the skin, making it suitable for sensitive individuals, and its moisture-wicking properties inhibit bacteria growth. West Elm was the first home retailer to join Fair Trade USA.
