Nassau Financial Expands InsurTech Program

Nassau Financial Group is continuing to expand its "Reimagine Insurtech" program. The move signals a strong appetite from established insurers to partner with and invest in digital-first solutions. For B2B vendors, it underscores the need to position offerings as enterprise-ready and easy to integrate for legacy carriers.

The "Reimagine Insurtech" program, first established in 2019, has supported over 100 startups, signaling a long-term commitment to fostering innovation within the insurance and financial services sectors. This initiative is a core component of Nassau's strategy to accelerate its transformation into a more digitally-enabled financial services company. In 2025, the program was significantly expanded with a new $10 million capital commitment aimed at direct investment in early and mid-stage startups. The investment focus is on companies within Insurtech, FinTech, and Retiretech, with a particular interest in businesses located in Connecticut and New York. The first investments from this expanded capital pool were announced in March 2026, backing two distinct startups. The recipients were Quorus Inc., a platform for personalized, tax-efficient investment portfolio management, and Kadance, Inc., a company using genomics for precision health navigation to identify and reduce health risks. This direct investment model follows other successful program initiatives, such as the "TalentBridge23" incubator launched in late 2022. That six-month program specifically targeted ten startups focused on challenges in retirement and health for seniors, pairing them with mentors and resources from program sponsors like CGI and LTIMindtree. The program is spearheaded by key executives at Nassau, including Chairman and CEO Phil Gass, who emphasizes that the future of insurance will be shaped by modern digital experiences and collaborative partnerships. By engaging with state economic programs, universities, and other accelerators, Nassau aims to solidify Hartford's position as a significant Insurtech hub.
