Minto Communities Launches Massive Texas Development

Minto Communities USA has closed on a 3,170-acre property in Waxahachie, Texas, for a new master-planned community. The development is slated to include over 13,000 homes along with retail and mixed-use spaces. Such large-scale projects are expected to create numerous entry-level management and sales roles.

- This Minto development, its first in Texas, is slated to begin construction in late 2026 and will be a multi-year buildout. The community plan includes two distinct residential districts—one for active adults 55+ and another for all ages—along with a town center, an adventure park, 400 acres of open park space, and several schools. - The project is projected to generate over $42.2 million in annual revenue for the City of Waxahachie and support an average of 2,080 construction jobs during the build-out phase. Upon completion, new businesses and resident spending are expected to create more than 7,500 permanent jobs in the area. - This development is part of a larger trend, as Texas leads the U.S. in commercial construction spending, with major growth in the industrial, energy, and technology sectors. This industrial boom, particularly in manufacturing and data centers, increases demand for large-scale residential communities to house the expanding workforce. - For business graduates, common entry points into construction management include roles like "Project Coordinator" or "Field Engineer," which often seek candidates with degrees in construction management, engineering, or a related field. - Hiring managers prioritize transferable skills from business backgrounds, such as project planning, budgeting, and cost control, alongside leadership and communication for coordinating with clients and subcontractors.
