Nine NYC restaurants added
Michelin added nine new restaurants to its New York 2026 guide, a roster that was revealed ahead of the guide’s star and Bib Gourmand announcements (ny.eater.com) (timeout.com). Eater and Time Out emphasize that these spots are now in the Michelin guide but have not yet been awarded stars or Bib Gourmands in this teaser update (ny.eater.com) (timeout.com).
Michelin has added nine New York City restaurants to its 2026 guide, a midyear update that puts them in the book before any stars or Bib Gourmands are announced. (guide.michelin.com) (ny.eater.com) The new class splits five restaurants in Brooklyn and four in Manhattan. The list is Bong, Entre Nous, Los Burritos Juárez, Vato, and I Cavallini in Brooklyn, plus Le Chêne, Hwaro, Elcielo New York, and Cove in Manhattan. (guide.michelin.com) (timeout.com) Michelin published the additions on March 25, 2026, and says new restaurants are added to the selection twice a year. The company says stars and Bib Gourmands are held back for its annual ceremony instead of these teaser updates. (guide.michelin.com) That distinction matters in Michelin’s system. A restaurant can be listed in the guide without holding a star, and a Bib Gourmand is a separate label for places inspectors judge to offer strong value. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) Brooklyn supplied more than half the additions this round. Michelin’s writeups highlighted Entre Nous in Clinton Hill for its natural wine program, Los Burritos Juárez in Fort Greene for El Paso and Ciudad Juárez-style burritos, Bong in Crown Heights for Cambodian shared plates, Vato in Park Slope for house-made flour tortilla burritos, and I Cavallini in Williamsburg for chef Nick Curtola’s Italian menu. (guide.michelin.com) The Manhattan additions skew more tasting-menu and special-occasion. Michelin described Le Chêne in Greenwich Village as a classic French restaurant, Hwaro in Midtown West as chef Sungchul Shim’s 22-seat counter, Elcielo New York as the New York outpost of chef Juan Manuel Barrientos, and Cove in SoHo as chef Flynn McGarry’s restaurant serving both tasting and à la carte menus. (guide.michelin.com) (timeout.com) Several of the newcomers arrive with Michelin ties already attached. Time Out noted that Vato comes from the team behind Michelin-starred Corima, I Cavallini is from the group behind Michelin-starred The Four Horsemen, and Elcielo’s related restaurants in Washington and Miami already hold Michelin stars. The next real status change for any of them comes later in 2026, when Michelin reveals its New York stars and Bib Gourmands at the annual ceremony. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2)
