Dune Part Two Reviews

Three major YouTube reviewers released in-depth "Dune: Part Two" analyses in the last 48 hours. Critics praise Villeneuve's faithful adaptation and visual spectacle, with Timothée Chalamet's Paul described as "more conflicted and compelling." Zendaya's expanded Chani role gets particular acclaim as "assertive and pivotal."

The sequel soared at the box office, debuting with a massive $82.5 million domestically and $182.5 million globally. This opening marked the largest for any film since "Barbie" in July 2023. "Dune: Part Two" was produced on a budget of $190 million, an increase from the first film's $165 million. The investment paid off, with the film grossing over $715 million worldwide, making it the seventh highest-grossing film of 2024. The film garnered near-universal acclaim, holding a 93% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 79 on Metacritic. Audiences awarded it an "A" CinemaScore. The strong reception wasn't limited to reviews; premium formats like IMAX accounted for 48% of the opening weekend's domestic business. IMAX screenings alone brought in $18.5 million, setting a March record for the company. Director Denis Villeneuve has confirmed he is developing a third film based on Frank Herbert's second novel, "Dune Messiah," to complete his trilogy. The screenplay for the next installment is reportedly near completion. Warner Bros. has set a release date of December 18, 2026, for an untitled Denis Villeneuve "event film," widely believed to be the "Dune" sequel.
