This new direct purchasing relationship will involve co-development of new products tailored specifically for JBS USA's food processing facilities. The collaboration aims to maximize the lifetime value of each knife and streamline supply-chain performance directly at the plant level. JBS USA, headquartered in Greeley, Colorado, is a dominant force in the food industry, with the capacity to process approximately 28,000 cattle and 92,000 hogs per day across its U.S. facilities. The company reported net sales of $48.8 billion in 2021 and is a leading processor of beef, pork, and poultry in the United States. While famous for its pocket knives, Victorinox's professional knife division is a significant part of its operations, producing 90,000 household and professional knives daily. The partnership will likely center on its Fibrox Pro line, which is designed for professional use with ergonomic, non-slip handles and high-carbon steel blades. The collaboration targets a critical metric in the meat industry: production yield. In beef processing, a target yield of 95% to 97% is standard, and minimizing waste through precise cuts directly boosts profitability. Improving yield involves optimizing every step, from deboning to trimming, where the quality and design of knives are crucial. Small enhancements in cutting techniques and equipment can lead to significant financial gains by reducing floor waste and material loss. To service the deal, Victorinox will utilize its 90,000-square-foot distribution center in Monroe, Connecticut. This facility will enable the company to manage inventory and provide rapid, tailored support to meet the specific needs of every plant within the extensive JBS USA network.
