Indian Wells: Djokovic & Tsitsipas team up
Stefanos Tsitsipas teamed up with Novak Djokovic in doubles at Indian Wells defeating the defending champions.
The unlikely duo made quick work of Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic, the defending Indian Wells champions, in straight sets. Djokovic and Tsitsipas won 6-3, 6-2 in just 53 minutes, dominating with their serves. They won 89% of their first-serve points and saved all four break points they faced. Their next challenge was against the French pair Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot. This unlikely pairing of Djokovic and Tsitsipas generated a lot of buzz and quickly became one of the most talked-about stories at the event. Tsitsipas suggested the team name "Djokopas," while Djokovic preferred "Stefanole". This doubles pairing allowed Tsitsipas to focus on doubles after an early exit in the singles competition, losing to Denis Shapovalov. Interestingly, with this pairing, Tsitsipas became the first player to have played with each member of the "Big Three". He previously played with Nadal and Federer in the Laver Cup.
