Curmel Moton TKOs Flores in Two
Rising junior welterweight Curmel Moton stopped Wilfredo Flores by TKO in the second round Saturday night at Turning Stone Resort Casino. The 19-year-old came out aggressively after a nine-month layoff, overwhelming Flores in his first scheduled 10-round fight. The explosive performance adds momentum to Moton's rapid rise in the division.
The fight marked Curmel Moton's promotional debut under Manny Pacquiao Promotions and his first bout in nearly nine months. His last appearance was a unanimous decision victory over Renny Viamonte Mastrapa on May 31, 2025. The contest against Flores was part of an event headlined by Elijah Pierce and Lorenzo Parra, streamed on Prime Video. A protégé of Floyd Mayweather, the 19-year-old Moton had a storied amateur career with a record of 156-7 and over 18 national titles before turning professional in September 2023. Mayweather has been instrumental in his development, providing mentorship and opportunities to spar with top-tier fighters. Moton (now 9-0, 7 KOs) overwhelmed the more experienced Flores from the start, working behind his jab and attacking the body. The pressure continued into the second round with one-sided exchanges, leading to the referee stepping in. Flores' corner stopped the fight after the round concluded. Wilfredo Flores, 17 years older than Moton, entered the ring with a record of 12 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw. Known as a durable test for up-and-coming prospects, only one other opponent had previously stopped the Puerto Rican fighter.
