Oakland Teacher Killed in Mass Shooting

Latetia Bobo, a 33-year-old English teacher, was killed in a mass shooting at a Downtown Oakland bar last night. Police are still searching for the suspect and investigating the motive behind the incident.

The shooting that killed Latetia Bobo and a 25-year-old man also left five others wounded. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at EZ's Lounge, a nightclub on 14th Street near Broadway in downtown Oakland. Investigators believe the seven victims were innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire after an argument broke out inside the club. Police have detained multiple individuals for questioning and recovered several firearms from the scene. However, as of now, no specific suspect has been named, and the motive behind the initial altercation remains under investigation. Latetia Bobo was an 8th-grade English language arts teacher at Caliber Beta Academy in San Pablo. The school canceled classes on Monday following the tragedy, remembering her as an "incredible educator and an even more incredible human being" who brought "unmistakable light to our campus." Beyond her teaching career, Bobo was deeply involved in her church, Hopes House Christian Ministries, where she led Bible studies. A creative artist, she was also a writer, singer, and actress who had founded her own film production company. Family and friends remember her as a caring and loyal person whose presence had a lasting impact.
