Anthropic’s Leaked App Builder

A social-media leak shows Anthropic may be developing a full‑stack app builder that bundles coding models, AI terminals, security and agents into a single suite. (x.com) The post positions the tool as a competitor to existing developer-facing agent platforms and prompted visible community discussion. (x.com)

Anthropic appears to be testing an in-chat app builder inside Claude, according to leaked screenshots posted on X on April 12 and reported by Sifted on April 13. (x.com) (sifted.eu) The images show a Claude interface that generates apps from text prompts, with examples including chatbots, photo albums, and landing pages, Sifted reported. Other outlets that reviewed the same screenshots said the interface also showed live previews, database setup, authentication tools, and a deploy button. (sifted.eu) (dataconomy.com) Anthropic has not officially announced the product. As of April 15, the company’s public product pages list Claude, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, desktop extensions, and Artifacts, but not a standalone app builder matching the leaked interface. (kingy.ai) (anthropic.com) (claude.com) The idea behind these tools is simple: a user describes software in plain English, and the model writes code, runs commands, connects services, and returns a working app. Anthropic already offers pieces of that stack through Claude Code, which can read a codebase, edit files, run commands, and work in a terminal, desktop app, browser, and integrated development environments. (code.claude.com) (anthropic.com) Anthropic has also been moving Claude closer to connected software work outside a chat box. Artifacts gives users a workspace to build code and interactive tools inside Claude, and Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol lets assistants connect to data sources such as GitHub, Slack, Google Drive, Postgres, and local file systems. (claude.com) (anthropic.com) That matters because the leaked product looks less like a coding assistant and more like a packaged software factory. Anthropic’s desktop extensions bundle local tools into one-click installs, and its recent engineering posts describe work on long-running agents, safer autonomous modes, and multi-agent systems that can keep working across tasks. (anthropic.com 1) (anthropic.com 2) The competitive backdrop is crowded. Bolt says users can build websites, apps, and prototypes from prompts, while Vercel’s v0 says it helps users design and scale full-stack web applications with artificial intelligence. (bolt.new) (v0.app) Lovable is the startup most often named in coverage of the leak. Reuters reported on December 18, 2025, that Lovable raised $330 million at a $6.6 billion valuation, and CNBC reported the product uses models from providers including Anthropic and OpenAI. (finance.yahoo.com) (cnbc.com) Anthropic’s own product language has been moving in the same direction for months. Its Claude Code page says “the majority of code” at Anthropic is now written by Claude Code, and says the product is meant to let people outside engineering build prototypes and internal tools by describing goals in natural language. (anthropic.com) If the leaked interface ships, Anthropic would be selling more than a model subscription or a command-line tool. It would be offering one place inside Claude to describe an app, wire up tools, preview it, and push it live. (sifted.eu) (anthropic.com)
