WisdomTree Deploys $159B in Fund Infrastructure on Solana and Ethereum
Asset manager WisdomTree has deployed $159 billion in fund infrastructure across the Solana, Ethereum, and Bitcoin networks. This large-scale institutional move indicates growing confidence in using public blockchains like Solana for settlement and as a foundational liquidity layer for financial products.
- The expansion onto Solana is part of a broader multi-chain strategy for WisdomTree, which has already deployed its tokenized funds on several Ethereum-based networks, including Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism, as well as the non-EVM chain Stellar. - This initiative is delivered through two main platforms: WisdomTree Prime®, a retail-focused app for personal finance, and WisdomTree Connect™, a platform designed for institutional clients. - On the institutional side, WisdomTree Connect allows clients to mint, hold, and manage tokenized fund positions directly on Solana and use them within DeFi applications, subject to risk controls. - For retail users, the WisdomTree Prime app enables on-ramping with USDC from Solana to access regulated, yield-generating tokenized funds and then off-ramp those holdings to self-custody wallets. - The suite of tokenized products available includes a variety of asset classes such as the WisdomTree Government Money Market Digital Fund, equity funds like the WisdomTree U.S. LargeCap Fund, and fixed-income funds. - This move taps into Solana's rapidly growing Real World Asset (RWA) ecosystem, which has surpassed $1.3 billion in on-chain value, making it the fourth-largest network for tokenized RWAs. - WisdomTree's selection of Solana was driven by the network's high transaction speeds and low costs, which are seen as essential for meeting the demand from crypto-native investors while adhering to institutional regulatory standards. - This deployment is not just a pilot program but a full commercial integration, signaling a deeper commitment to using public blockchains for financial products, a trend also being pursued by other major asset managers like BlackRock and J.P. Morgan.
