EU Launches Armenian Engineering Hub

The European Union has launched the TUMO Convergence Centre in Armenia, a new hub for engineering and applied science. The center is designed to invest in youth skills and develop advanced labs to foster local job creation and technological innovation.

- The total cost of the project is €42.5 million, with a €12.5 million grant from the European Union. - The center is designed by the world-renowned Dutch architectural firm MVRDV and will cover an area of 18,000 square meters near the Hrazdan Gorge in Yerevan. - Key components of the hub will include TUMO Labs for educational and incubation programs, and 42 Yerevan, a local branch of the French programming school. - The project aims to bridge the gap between higher education and the technology industry, enhancing the skills of university students and young professionals. - This initiative is an expansion of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, which was founded in 2011 and provides free after-school education to teenagers in technology and design. - Since 2020, TUMO Labs and 42 Yerevan have already provided training to thousands of beneficiaries and collaborated on over 55 projects with various companies. - The TUMO network has expanded internationally with centers in cities like Paris, Berlin, Beirut, and Los Angeles, alongside its centers within Armenia. - Construction on the new five-story building officially began on February 24, 2026.
