Bracco Launches New Imaging AI in EU
Diagnostic imaging firm Bracco announced the commercial launch of its AiMIFY® platform in the European Union at the European Congress of Radiology. The company also expanded its AI portfolio through a new partnership with Avicenna.AI.
The AiMIFY® platform utilizes deep-learning algorithms to enhance contrast in brain MRI images. This technology, developed with Subtle Medical, Inc., can amplify the contrast enhancement up to double the level achieved with a standard dose of a gadolinium-based contrast agent (GBCA). The goal is to improve the visibility of both small and large lesions, thereby increasing diagnostic confidence for radiologists. This European launch follows AiMIFY's previous regulatory clearances, including FDA clearance in the United States and a CE mark under the EU's Medical Device Regulation (MDR). The software is designed to integrate into existing clinical workflows without a separate user interface, processing images after they are acquired. It aims to provide more detailed post-contrast images while maintaining standard imaging protocols. Bracco's new strategic partner, Avicenna.AI, specializes in AI-powered solutions for emergency radiology. Founded in 2018, the company has developed a suite of tools under the brand name CINA® that assist in the detection of conditions such as stroke, pulmonary embolism, and aortic dissection from CT scans. The collaboration between Bracco and Avicenna.AI will focus on developing AI applications for contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT), specifically for computer-aided detection and diagnosis in brain CT angiography. The new solution is currently undergoing clinical validation in the U.S. and Europe, with an FDA submission anticipated in the second half of 2026.
