Accor Expands Premium Portfolio in Egypt
Hospitality group Accor is accelerating its growth in Egypt with the addition of new Swissôtel-branded properties. The expansion is part of a strategy to enhance its premium portfolio in the region, focusing on guest experiences that emphasize wellness and cultural resonance.
- The newly announced Swissôtel Cairo West is a mixed-use development featuring 180 hotel rooms and over 250 branded residences. This project is a partnership with Saoud Urban Development, an Egyptian-Emirati firm, and aligns with the goals of Egypt Vision 2030 to support sustainable urban growth. - This expansion into West Cairo, a rapidly growing district, is Accor's first major real estate project in Egypt and is intended to be a cornerstone for the company's strategic growth beyond the Gulf region. - The Swissôtel brand's core philosophy is "Vitality," which integrates nature, wellness, and purposeful living into the guest experience. This is executed through amenities like Pürovel Spa & Sport facilities and specialized "Vitality Rooms" designed to promote well-being with features like circadian lighting. - Accor's broader strategy in the Middle East involves strengthening its premium portfolio in key gateway cities, with a significant focus on Saudi Arabia and the UAE alongside Egypt. The company aims to double its number of hotels in Saudi Arabia over the next five years. - In addition to the Cairo project, Accor is also slated to open Swissôtel Ras El Hekma and Swissôtel Residences Ras El Hekma in 2027, further cementing the brand's presence in Egypt. - The introduction of branded residences is a key part of Accor's diversification strategy, as these properties typically command a 30 to 40 percent premium over non-branded residential properties. The Swissôtel Cairo West will feature these residences, combining private homes with access to hotel services. - Accor currently operates 38 hotels in Egypt, accounting for over 13,000 rooms, and has a pipeline of 22 additional projects. The group has been present in the country for nearly 45 years.
