OpenAI expands business connectors
OpenAI’s ChatGPT Business release notes say connectors for Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dropbox and Box were enabled, and memory for Team/Enterprise/Edu users rolled out on April 8–10 (with regional exceptions noted). OpenAI has widened ChatGPT’s workplace reach, turning on new file connectors for major business storage services and expanding memory tools for paid teams. (help.openai.com) OpenAI’s ChatGPT Business release notes say synced connectors for Google Drive and Microsoft SharePoint were enabled on April 10, 2026, for Team, Enterprise, and Edu customers. The same notes say the feature indexes an organization’s files in advance so ChatGPT can return faster answers. (help.openai.com) The release notes also say non-synced connectors for Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox, and Box were enabled on April 8, 2026, for ChatGPT Business users. OpenAI said those connectors let users query content from connected services inside ChatGPT without pre-indexing the files. (help.openai.com) OpenAI added memory for Team, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces between April 8 and April 10, 2026, according to its Business and Enterprise release notes. The company said saved memories and chat history are available outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom for those plans. (help.openai.com, help.openai.com) The connector push extends a product line OpenAI has been building across ChatGPT’s paid tiers. OpenAI’s main ChatGPT release notes said Pro users already had chat search connectors for Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Microsoft SharePoint by late March 2026. (help.openai.com) OpenAI is pairing those software changes with a bigger physical footprint in Britain. Tech.eu reported on April 13, 2026, that OpenAI signed a lease for an 88,500-square-foot office in King’s Cross that can more than double its current London headcount of about 200. (tech.eu) CNBC separately reported the London site has capacity for more than 500 employees and is expected to open in 2027. CNBC said OpenAI had described London in February 2026 as its largest research hub outside the United States. (cnbc.com) The timing follows OpenAI’s June 2025 rollout of workplace connectors and meeting tools aimed at making ChatGPT a daily office assistant rather than a standalone chatbot. At the time, OpenAI said connectors would respect an organization’s existing permissions when searching across internal files. (techcrunch.com) Together, the April product updates and the London office plan show OpenAI adding both enterprise plumbing and local staff as it tries to sell ChatGPT deeper into company workflows.
