Social Distortion announces first album in 15 years

Social Distortion is generating excitement with their first new album in 15 years and an upcoming tour announcement, leading a wave of rock tour news alongside Between the Buried and Me, Queens of the Stone Age, and Flyleaf. Kamelot also revealed their "Dark Asylum World Tour" and Kamfest event.

The upcoming Social Distortion album, "Born To Kill," is set for release on May 8, 2026, and marks the band's first new full-length record since 2011's "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes". The album's creation follows frontman Mike Ness's recovery from tonsil cancer, a diagnosis he received in 2023. "Born To Kill" is an 11-track album co-produced by Mike Ness and Dave Sardy. It features guest appearances from Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams. The cover art is a collaboration between Ness and artist Shepard Fairey. In support of the new album, Social Distortion will embark on a major North American tour running from August to October 2026. They will be joined by fellow punk legends Descendents and Australian punk band The Chats. Flyleaf is also hitting the road, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut self-titled album with a 14-city U.S. tour in July 2026. The tour notably features the return of original lead vocalist Lacey Sturm, who reunited with the band in 2023 for a series of festival appearances. Progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me will launch a 31-date U.S. headlining tour from May to June 2026. The tour supports their 2025 album, "The Blue Nowhere," and will feature a rotating lineup of special guests, including Imperial Triumphant, Fallujah, and Thank You Scientist. Queens of the Stone Age will continue their "Catacombs Tour" with a limited series of West Coast dates in the spring of 2026. This tour, inspired by their 2025 concert film "Alive in the Catacombs," sees the band performing songs with new arrangements and added instrumentation. Power metal band Kamelot's "Dark Asylum World Tour" will have a North American leg starting in August 2026 with special guests Visions of Atlantis and Frozen Crown. The tour will then head to Europe in the fall, kicking off with a two-night "Kamfest" event in Tilburg, Netherlands, featuring different supporting bands each night.
