BMW M2 Gets Track Kit

BMW launched a comprehensive M Performance Track Kit for the M2, featuring adjustable aerodynamics, motorsport-derived coilovers, and a swan-neck rear wing. Priced at €23,500 and available from July, it's designed to sharpen the M2's track credentials while remaining road-legal.

The new M Performance Track Kit is a comprehensive package developed in BMW's wind tunnel to significantly enhance the M2's on-track performance. It features a manually adjustable front splitter and a prominent swan-neck rear wing, a design principle borrowed directly from BMW's M4 GT3 and GT4 customer racing cars. The rear wing offers two angle-of-attack settings to adjust downforce. A unique "Race Mode" shifts the wing 50mm rearward for maximum aerodynamic effectiveness on the circuit, while a "Street Mode" retracts it to comply with German road traffic regulations, ensuring the car remains fully road-legal. This is the first time BMW has offered a road-legal, motorsport-derived coilover system. The suspension is four-way adjustable for rebound and compression, allowing for fine-tuning of the car's handling characteristics, and can lower the vehicle by up to 20mm. The development of the chassis tuning was led by BMW M test engineer and Nürburgring record holder, Jörg Weidinger. The current G87 M2, which serves as the base for this kit, is powered by the S58 twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six engine. The cost of the Track Kit, at €23,500, represents a significant investment, equating to roughly 40% of the car's base price in early 2025. Alongside the Track Kit for the standard M2, a separate M Performance exhaust system is being offered for the more powerful M2 CS model. This optional exhaust features carbon and titanium tailpipe trims and is approximately eight kilograms lighter than the standard component.
