Eco-Friendly Robot Maids Arrive

The sustainable smart home market is growing with new automated devices. ECOVACS launched its advanced DEEBOT T90 PRO OMNI robot vacuum, while RoboUP is releasing its Raccoon2SE robot lawn mower after extensive testing in Europe and the U.S.

ECOVACS is leaning into high-end automation with its OMNI station, which handles mop washing with fresh water, auto-cleaning of the dirty water box, and even hot-air drying. The system is designed for minimal manual intervention, pairing with a voice assistant called AGENT YIKO that uses intelligent scene recognition to identify cleaning zones and avoid pets. The DEEBOT T90 PRO OMNI's PowerBoost Technology introduces a rapid recharge capability, adding up to 10% battery in about three minutes during a mop-washing cycle. This feature, leveraging GaN charging tech, is designed to reduce downtime and enable perpetual cleaning for larger homes by allowing the robot to quickly top up its battery and resume its task. On the navigation front, the T90 utilizes TruEdge 3.0 for edge cleaning and a TruePass Adaptive 4-Wheel-Drive Climbing System. This allows it to deploy auxiliary wheels to climb obstacles up to 2.4 cm, ensuring it can traverse uneven surfaces and thresholds between rooms without getting stuck. Meanwhile, RoboUP's Raccoon2SE is targeting the small-to-medium-sized lawn market (under 600m²) with a focus on simplicity and affordability. Its main selling point is its "Mow Straight Out of the Box" functionality, which uses AI-powered vision and sensors for navigation, eliminating the need for boundary wires or RTK antennas that have been common in the industry. The Raccoon2SE's navigation combines a camera with LED lighting for AI-supported obstacle detection, allowing it to recognize and avoid people, animals, and objects like tennis balls. It operates at a quiet 56 dB and includes a rain sensor that automatically sends it back to its charging station when precipitation is detected. RoboUP, a Shenzhen-based company founded in 2022, validated the Raccoon2SE through a Kickstarter campaign that drew over 600 backers and extensive testing with more than 80 beta users. This community feedback was used to refine the mower's navigation and usability before its broader launch. The broader smart home market is experiencing significant growth, with one report projecting it to expand from USD 127.80 billion in 2024 to USD 537.27 billion by 2030. This expansion is driven by consumer demand for convenience, energy efficiency, and security, with a strong trend towards integrated device ecosystems.
