Detroit's Art March Underway
Detroit's Art March is happening through March, featuring public art walks and events [https://www.hourdetroit.com/things-to-do/things-to-do-this-weekend-2/]. These walks encourage exploration and community engagement [https://www.hourdetroit.com/things-to-do/things-to-do-this-weekend-2/]. Where can I find a map of the public art installations?
The Downtown Development Authority is hosting Art March in conjunction with the Downtown Ferndale Public Art Program and the Ferndale Arts & Beautification Commission. This month-long event, which began in 2025, aims to display the artistic richness and diversity of the area. Art March includes self-guided public art walks, interactive games, pop-up art installations, hands-on workshops, and gallery crawls. The event mirrors a traditional art gallery exhibition, starting with an opening celebration and concluding with a public closing reception. Several museums and institutions are planning art-related events throughout the year. The Detroit Institute of Arts is premiering an exhibit called “Caravaggio's Models” on March 21, 2026. The exhibit will showcase approximately 25 paintings and is the largest presentation of his works to be held in North America in several decades.
