Bank of America Hires Top Tech Bankers

Bank of America poached four top tech bankers, signaling continued investment in technology-driven growth. This often precedes internal platform upgrades and a renewed focus on digital transformation, including trading platforms. The bank has also invested $40M to upskill over 265,000 Americans.

Bank of America's tech investment banking group is being rebuilt after the departure of key figures like Kevin Brunner and Ric Spencer last year. Gary Kirkham, formerly of Centerview Partners, returns as executive vice chair, bringing over 20 years of experience, including a previous role as global co-head of technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) investment banking at Bank of America. Jason Rowe, previously a co-head of software investment banking at Goldman Sachs, will join as Bank of America's global co-head of technology investment banking. Mahir Zaimoglu and Patrik Czornik are joining from JPMorgan Chase in London to head TMT M&A Investment Banking and co-head EMEA TMT Investment Banking, respectively. These hires signal Bank of America's intent to strengthen its position in the competitive tech dealmaking arena and expand its reach in the technology sector. The bank is also expanding its internal use of technology, tapping AI-ready content from the London Stock Exchange Group to improve analysis and insight generation across client workflows. Bank of America has committed $4 billion to new AI projects as part of its $13 billion annual technology budget, building on over $100 billion invested in technology in the past decade. This includes strengthening data capabilities for AI adoption and client insights, as well as significant investments in cybersecurity.
