Teyana Taylor Named TIME Woman

Multitalented artist Teyana Taylor has been recognized as TIME Magazine's Woman of the Year for 2026, joining an elite group of 16 influential women. Taylor's impact spans music, film, and fashion across her diverse career. This latest honor cements her status as a leading force in contemporary R&B and entertainment.

Taylor's journey in the entertainment industry began at age 15 when she choreographed the music video for Beyoncé's hit song "Ring the Alarm." Soon after, she gained wider public recognition through an appearance on MTV's "My Super Sweet Sixteen" before signing a record deal with Pharrell Williams' Star Trak Entertainment label. Her recent critical acclaim is heavily tied to her acting. For her role in the 2023 film *A Thousand and One*, she earned a National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance. This was followed by a Golden Globe Award win and an Academy Award nomination for her supporting role in Paul Thomas Anderson's 2025 film, *One Battle After Another*. Beyond performing, Taylor is an accomplished director, working under the alias "Spike Tee." She has directed music videos for artists like Monica and Lil Durk and has won the BET Award for Video Director of the Year twice, in 2020 and 2023. She is also slated to make her feature film directorial debut with *Get Lite* for Paramount Pictures. In the fashion world, Taylor has established herself as a significant collaborator with major brands. She has designed limited-edition sneakers with both Adidas and Air Jordan. In February 2025, she launched a curated collection with Victoria's Secret, for which she also served as creative director and stylist. While she announced a retirement from music in 2020, her 2025 album *Escape Room* earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best R&B Album. Her 2020 project, *The Album*, debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart and featured collaborations with Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Erykah Badu. Taylor's upcoming projects include starring alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in the Netflix crime thriller *RIP* and a role in the Ryan Murphy legal drama *All's Fair*.
