Benefit Concert on Vashon Island

A benefit concert is being held this afternoon on Vashon Island, Washington. The event takes place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Vashon Events Center, with proceeds supporting a local cause.

This afternoon's concert features a lineup of Vashon Island's own singer-songwriters, including Mark Graham, Orville Johnson, Kat Eggleston, and many others. The event is emceed by Craig Beles, with sound provided by Danny Powers and stage management by Andrew Reissiger and Mike Witmer. Proceeds will benefit the Vashon Island Music Scholarship, which supports graduating high school seniors who intend to pursue music in their higher education. A donation of $10.00 to $20.00 is suggested at the door. This is the fourth year for the music scholarship fundraiser. The current scholarship is a combination of two previous funds: the Paul Colwell Music Scholarship and the Vashon Events Music Scholarship. The performance is being held at the Vashon High School Theater. Vashon Island has a history of community-driven fundraising for various local causes. Organizations like Vashon Youth & Family Services, the Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust, and the Vashon Schools Foundation also rely on community support and events to fund their programs.
