Bezzecchi Dominates Thailand MotoGP
Marco Bezzecchi took victory for Aprilia at the Thailand Grand Prix, his third consecutive Grand Prix win and Aprilia's first-ever premier class victory in Thailand. Rookie Pedro Acosta finished second and now leads the championship, while Marc Marquez suffered another retirement. Fans are also buzzing about Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jack Miller racing tuk-tuks in pre-event promotions.
While this was Aprilia's first premier class win in Thailand, the Italian manufacturer has a storied history in Grand Prix racing, securing 54 world titles across various classes before rejoining MotoGP as a full factory team in 2022. Their first win in the modern MotoGP era came in 2022 at the Argentine GP with Aleix Espargaró. Bezzecchi's victory in Thailand marked a "hat-trick" of wins, continuing his momentum from the end of the 2025 season where he won the final two races in Portugal and Valencia. The Italian rider, who joined Aprilia for the 2025 season, finished third in the riders' world championship in both 2023 and 2025. New championship leader Pedro Acosta is no stranger to success, having won the Moto3 World Championship in his 2021 rookie season and the Moto2 title in 2023. He became the first rookie to win the lightweight class championship since 1990. Reigning world champion Marc Marquez's retirement was caused by a rear puncture while he was fighting for a podium position. The DNF leaves the Ducati Lenovo Team rider eighth in the early championship standings, with only nine points. The Thailand Grand Prix podium, featuring an Aprilia and two KTM-badged bikes, officially ended Ducati's record-breaking streak of 88 consecutive Grand Prix races with at least one rider on the rostrum. World Superbike star Toprak Razgatlioglu's promotional appearance comes as he prepares to make his full-time MotoGP debut. The three-time WorldSBK champion will join the Prima Pramac Yamaha team for the 2026 season, becoming the first Turkish rider in the premier class.
