Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority is turning its 2026 Walk the Path for Wellbeing into a three-county challenge across Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales) The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 10, and Monday, May 11, 2026, with a reserve weekend of May 17 and 18 if severe weather triggers a warning. Organizers moved it to two days after feedback from 2025. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales) This year’s route adds the 60-mile Ceredigion Coast Path and the 67-mile Carmarthenshire stretch of the Wales Coast Path to Pembrokeshire’s 186-mile coast path, for a combined target of 313 miles. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales; ceredigion.gov.uk; discovercarmarthenshire.com) The challenge is set up as self-led group sections rather than a mass start, and participants can cover their part by walking or other forms of active travel. The park authority says people do not need to finish every stage and can do only what feels manageable. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales; pembrokeshirecoast.wales) That is a change from the first version of the event in 2025, when groups were asked to cover the full 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path in a single day. The original launch set the date for September 12, 2025, before later disruption from weather. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales) Severe weather forced the 2025 event off its September date and onto October 17, with organizers warning at the time that another weather hit would push the challenge into 2026. The revised 2026 format gives participants a 48-hour window instead of one fixed day. (westerntelegraph.co.uk; pembrokeshirecoast.wales) Angela Robinson, the authority’s health and wellbeing officer, said the expansion is meant to bring in more communities along the West Wales coast. Pure West Radio is again helping promote the event and share updates from participants. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales) Teams can choose a section, download guidance and risk assessment material, and raise money for a charity of their choice if they want to. The route is bigger in 2026, but the format is looser: one shared goal, spread across three counties and two days. (pembrokeshirecoast.wales; pembrokeshirecoast.wales)
