New EDM festival coming to Coachella site
Coachella organizers are launching "Head Trip," a two-day EDM festival featuring Calvin Harris, Skrillex, and Swedish House Mafia.
Goldenvoice, the company behind Coachella, is organizing "Head Trip" as a one-time-only, single-stage event with no overlapping sets. The festival is scheduled for October 10-11 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, the same location as Coachella and Stagecoach. The lineup boasts big names in electronic music, including Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, and Skrillex. Attendees can also catch back-to-back sets from Peggy Gou and Four Tet, Dom Dolla and KETTAMA, and Seth Troxler and Ben Sterling. Floating Points' Sunflower Sound System, featuring tapestries and artwork by Josephine Chime, will make its U.S. debut at the festival. Coachella's immense popularity has significantly boosted Indio's economy, leading to its recognition as one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. In 2022, Coachella and Stagecoach generated approximately $704 million in economic activity, with $106 million specifically impacting Indio. This influx of tourism dollars benefits hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and other local businesses. The addition of "Head Trip" further solidifies Indio's reputation as a premier destination for live music events. Like Goldenvoice's previous festivals Power Trip and Desert Trip, Head Trip will offer various passes and hotel packages. Tickets go on sale March 13.
