Luna 'Smart Ring' Debuts with Voice Interaction
The Luna Ring, the first smart ring with voice interaction, has officially launched. The device allows users to ask for their health statistics and receive verbal feedback, reducing reliance on a smartphone app. However, the launch has reportedly been hampered by shipping delays and the absence of some anticipated features.
The voice interaction on the Luna Ring is powered by an AI engine called LifeOS and currently integrates with Siri for Apple users, allowing for hands-free logging of activities like meals or workouts. Android users can access the same voice features, but must do so within the Luna app. The ring itself does not contain a microphone; all voice processing is handled through the user's smartphone. The launch of the Luna Ring 2.0 in mid-2025 was met with some production and shipping delays, with some early buyers receiving their orders later than initially promised. Initial user reports also indicated software bugs, such as inconsistent sleep tracking, which the company has since aimed to address through firmware updates. A significant hurdle for the device is its availability in the United States. In November 2025, market leader Oura filed a patent infringement complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission against several smart ring manufacturers, including Luna's parent company, Nexxbase. In January 2026, Nexxbase agreed to voluntarily halt U.S. sales and importation of the Luna Ring. The Luna Ring is a product of Noise (Nexxbase), an India-based company that is a major player in the smart wearables market in its home country. The ring itself is constructed from titanium with a diamond-like coating for scratch resistance and retails for approximately $329, notably without requiring a monthly subscription for full feature access, a key differentiator from its main competitor, Oura.
