Dior Ambassadors Generate PFW Buzz
Thai Dior Ambassadors Lingling Kwong and Orm Kornnaphat are generating massive buzz ahead of the brand's March 3rd show at Paris Fashion Week. Their chic airport looks, shared across social media, have amassed thousands of engagements, highlighting the power of regional ambassadors in building global anticipation for major runway events.
Dior's appointment of Thai stars Lingling Kwong and Orm Kornnaphat as brand ambassadors in November 2025 cemented a strategic pivot towards Thailand's growing influence in the luxury market. This followed the naming of fellow Thai actors 'Mile' Phakphum Romsaithong and 'Apo' Nattawin Wattanagitiphat as men's ambassadors in June 2023, signaling a deliberate strategy to engage the "Thai Wave." The move diversifies Dior's Asian ambassador portfolio beyond its established K-pop and Chinese celebrity partnerships. The impact of this regional focus is quantifiable and significant. During the Spring 2026 season, Orm and Lingling generated $23.5 million and $21.5 million in Earned Media Value (EMV) respectively, topping global influencer rankings. A report noted that for the first time, Thai stars surpassed K-pop idols in media value, a success attributed to the duo's high-volume, high-engagement posting strategy, which included 50 Dior-related posts combined. This strategy aligns with parent company LVMH's focus on Asia as a growth engine. While the luxury market has seen slower growth, LVMH reported a 1% sales increase in Asia (excluding Japan) in the final quarter of 2025, indicating a gradual recovery and stabilization in the region. Thailand's luxury market, specifically, is projected to grow annually by 2.41% between 2025 and 2028, making it a key target for luxury expansion. The selection of these ambassadors reflects the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri, who has been at the helm of Dior's womenswear since 2016. Her tenure has been marked by a focus on female empowerment and a youthful spirit, often citing her own daughter as a muse. The "captivating duo" of Lingling and Orm, who gained fame in the girls'-love genre, aligns with this vision of "freedom and reinvented elegance." Other luxury players are employing a similar playbook, underscoring a broader industry trend. Gucci appointed its first Thai ambassador, Davika Hoorne, in 2023, while Burberry named Bright Vachirawit its first South Asia-Pacific ambassador in 2022. Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Bottega Veneta have also signed prominent Thai actors, signaling a collective recognition of the country's rising soft power and its digitally-savvy Gen Z and Millennial consumer base.
