Centro runs accident training
Centro hosted NYSDOT’s Bus Accident Investigation Training on March 23, training 25 professionals from agencies including Arc of CS, TCAT, and Transdev on hazard identification, data collection, and accident prevention — a practical, peer‑level capacity building example for PTASP implementation. Hands‑on training like this shortens the learning curve for agencies updating their SRM and corrective action processes. (x.com)
NYSDOT’s BAITFISH program has been offered by the agency’s Public Transportation Safety Board (PTSB) since 2003 and is provided at no charge to attendees, explicitly to satisfy the System Safety Program Plan requirement that at least one staff person be certified in an approved accident‑investigation program. (dot.ny.gov) The curriculum is delivered in a three‑day modular format; Class One focuses on accident management and technical investigation techniques, including use of proven formulas to develop speed estimates and scene control procedures. (dot.ny.gov) Class Two centers on the determination of accident preventability, emphasizing thorough information‑gathering protocols and the development of accurate countermeasures once preventability has been established. (dot.ny.gov) Class Three covers hazard assessment and mitigation through trend analysis, and explicitly addresses system safety program elements such as hiring practices, observation rides, and reasonable disciplinary processes. (dot.ny.gov) NYSDOT notes the course was reintroduced and updated in early 2017, that recertification classes are no longer required to maintain certification, and provides a contact (Justin.Zimmerman@dot.ny.gov) for hosting or attending future sessions. (dot.ny.gov) The NYSDOT training calendar shows the BAITFISH series has been presented across New York State and listed a Syracuse session hosted by CENTRO for March 17–19 on its course page.
