Ferrari is debuting their innovative rear wing, nicknamed the "Macarena," at the Chinese Grand Prix. The wing features a unique design where the component completely flips upside down instead of simply switching from an angled to flat position. This "flip-flop" rotation caught the attention of rivals during pre-season testing in Bahrain. The "Macarena" wing is designed to maximize the benefits of active aerodynamic systems, a key focus of the 2026 regulations. By rotating 180 degrees, the wing creates a larger opening for airflow, reducing aerodynamic drag and increasing straight-line speed. The wing is rumored to have increased the car's top speed by 5-8 kph during testing. Lewis Hamilton noted the team worked hard to bring the upgrade earlier than initially planned. The upgrades were transported as cabin baggage among Ferrari engineers due to the tight schedule. The Shanghai circuit's long back straight, where cars can exceed 340 kph, makes it an ideal track to test the wing's effectiveness.
