Bruno Mars Drops 'The Romantic'
Bruno Mars released his long-awaited solo album *The Romantic* on New Music Friday, featuring tracks like "Risk It All" and "God Was Showing Off." Fans are praising the guitar intros and layered vocals for bringing back his soulful vibes. The album dropped alongside major releases from BLACKPINK's comeback *DEADLINE* and Gorillaz's *The Mountain* featuring "The Moon Cave" with Asha Puthli and Bobby Womack.
*The Romantic* marks Bruno Mars' first solo album in nearly a decade, following the massive success of 2016's *24K Magic*. That previous album was a critical and commercial triumph, winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. In the years between solo projects, Mars formed the superduo Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak, releasing the 1970s R&B-inspired album *An Evening with Silk Sonic* in 2021. He also dominated the charts with massive collaborations, including "Die with a Smile" with Lady Gaga and "APT." with Rosé from BLACKPINK. The new album reportedly leans into a "soft soul" genre, with a sound described as sleeker and warmer than the funk-heavy *24K Magic*. The nine-track record draws from a variety of influences, including cha-cha, bossa nova, and new jack swing, with a tight focus on romance and movement. The album's lead single, "I Just Might," set a high bar for success after its release on January 9, 2026. The track debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, signaling strong listener anticipation for Mars' solo return. Production on the concise, 31-minute album was handled entirely by Mars and frequent collaborator D'Mile. This focused approach is a departure from sprawling radio trends, instead creating a cohesive and intentional record. To support the album, Mars has announced a 71-show stadium tour scheduled to run from April to October 2026 across North America and Europe. In Los Angeles, he celebrated the launch with "The Romantic Flower Shop," a three-day pop-up event offering free flowers and exclusive merchandise to fans.
