Hillsborough has set its 2026 Memorial Day program for Saturday, May 23, with a veterans breakfast, parade and ceremony at the Garden of Honor. (patch.com) The day starts with the Salute to Military Service Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building, followed by the parade at 10 a.m. from the intersection of Auten and Triangle roads. The breakfast will be held rain or shine, and township military service personnel are invited to participate and help lead the program. (patch.com) Hillsborough Township Police Corporal and Army veteran Frank Polizzi will serve as grand marshal after Mayor Catherine Payne announced the designation at the March 24 Township Committee meeting. Polizzi served in the Army from 2011 to 2019 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. (patch.com) The parade itself follows a format Hillsborough residents have seen in recent years, with veterans, the Hillsborough High School Marching Band, youth groups, antique cars, military vehicles and fire trucks. The township’s Memorial Day program ends with a ceremony at the Garden of Honor near the parade finish line. (patch.com) The event is part of a long-running township observance. Hillsborough said in 2024 that the community had been gathering for 18 years for its annual veterans breakfast, Memorial Day parade and Garden of Honor commemoration program. (hillsborough-nj.org) Township notices from 2025 show the same structure — breakfast, parade and Garden of Honor ceremony — with veterans and active-duty personnel invited to take part and community groups encouraged to march. Last year’s township notice listed a 7:30 a.m. breakfast, a 9 a.m. parade and a rain date on the following Sunday. (hillsboroughnj.gov) The Hillsborough High School Raider Marching Band treats the parade as a regular annual performance. The band’s website says the Memorial Day parade always falls on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and schedules parade rehearsals in May. (hillsboroughpride.com) Residents who want to attend or register for the breakfast now have a date, time and route anchor more than a month before Memorial Day weekend. The township said breakfast registration is required through Parks and Recreation or by calling 908-369-4832. (patch.com)
