Zero Sievert Wins Over Reviewers
The top-down extraction shooter Zero Sievert is earning strong reviews for its atmospheric pixel art, challenging mechanics, and unique tension from permadeath risk. Reviewers compare it favorably to Escape from Tarkov but with more accessible gameplay, praising its deep crafting systems and high replayability.
The game is the work of a solo developer, Luca Carbonera, who founded CABO Studio in Italy in 2020. *Zero Sievert* was published by Modern Wolf and first launched into Steam Early Access in November 2022. After a nearly two-year early access period, the game officially launched its 1.0 version on October 23, 2024. During its time in early access, the game sold over 500,000 copies and received numerous updates, including new maps, weapons, and gameplay improvements based on community feedback. The game is set in a fictional, post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe, where players scavenge through procedurally generated wastelands. Players operate from a bunker, which serves as a base for accepting quests, trading, and modifying equipment. *Zero Sievert* features a detailed weapon modification system with over 35 unique guns and 150 mods. The game also includes more than 100 different items to loot, which can be used for crafting, upgrading the player's base, or selling to vendors. The full 1.0 release introduced an endgame map called Zakov City, complete with a new boss and quest line to conclude the story.
