Art in Bloom opens Thursday, April 23, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, filling the museum with flower arrangements modeled on artworks from its collection. (new.artsmia.org) The 2026 festival runs four days, through Sunday, April 26, and museum admission remains free throughout the event. Mia lists hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. (new.artsmia.org) Mia says more than 100 individual and commercial florists are creating the displays, while a separate museum press release puts the total at more than 160 floral interpretations across the galleries. The event also includes free guided tours and family activities. (new.artsmia.org, new.artsmia.org) The festival is presented by the Friends of the Institute, the museum’s volunteer and fundraising group. Mia says Art in Bloom is the Friends’ largest annual fundraiser supporting the museum’s mission of keeping art accessible to the public. (new.artsmia.org) This year’s event comes with longer programming around the main floral weekend. Mia announced month-long Art in Bloom activities in April 2026, including family offerings, workshops, tours, and adult programs tied to the festival. (new.artsmia.org) For visitors who want evening access, Thursday doubles as the late night of the public festival, with galleries open until 9 p.m. Mia is also selling tickets to Party in Bloom, an after-hours preview with food, fashion, and music. (new.artsmia.org, new.artsmia.org) The museum’s published schedule also includes specific workshops during the weekend, such as bouquet-making and ikebana on Friday and sustainable floral design and botanical collage on Saturday. Those sessions are listed separately from the free general admission festival. (new.artsmia.org) Art in Bloom has become a regular spring fixture in Minneapolis, and local event listings from Meet Minneapolis and Explore Minnesota are promoting the same April 23–26 run this year. FOX 9 included it in its April 24–26 weekend roundup for Minnesota. (minneapolis.org, exploreminnesota.com, fox9.com) For anyone planning to go, the basic format is simple: walk the galleries, see artworks translated into fresh arrangements, and catch a tour or family activity before the festival closes Sunday afternoon.
