Newcastle United's Assistant Manager Opens Ponteland Bar

Jason Tindall, Newcastle United's assistant manager, is opening a new bar called Say When in Ponteland. The new establishment in the affluent suburb reflects ongoing investment in high-end hospitality venues outside of the immediate city center.

Say When is taking over the Bell Villas location that was home to Yolo for a decade. The popular Ponteland bar, a local staple for brunches and cocktails, poured its final drink on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, after a sudden announcement of its closure. The venue's previous owner was hospitality entrepreneur Neill Winch, the creator of the successful STACK brand. Winch expressed that after ten years, it felt like the right time to allow a new concept to take over the space. While Tindall is an investor, the primary operators of Say When are brothers Joe and Ollie Brack. The duo has rapidly built a portfolio of seven North East hospitality ventures, including the popular Brack Burger, which launched during the pandemic. The Ponteland location will be the second Say When, replicating a successful format from its sister site in Gosforth that opened in December 2025. The Gosforth bar quickly became popular, attracting Newcastle United players like Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar to its VIP launch. Say When is known for its "from latte to last call" concept, serving coffee, small plates, and a curated wine selection. A key feature of the Gosforth location, expected in Ponteland, is its self-service wine machines, which have been a significant draw for customers.
