HawkEye 360 Closes New Funding for SIGINT

Signals intelligence leader HawkEye 360 has closed an additional Series E financing round. The capital will be used to accelerate the commercial expansion of its high-resolution geolocation and activity analytics, signaling strong investor confidence in platforms that turn location data into mission-critical intelligence.

This latest $23 million infusion is the second close of HawkEye 360's Series E round, with new investors including Ghisallo Capital Management, Principia Growth, and Sixty Degree Capital. Existing investor Strategic Development Fund (SDF) also participated, demonstrating continued confidence in the company's growth. The funding is earmarked to strengthen HawkEye 360's balance sheet and accelerate the integration of its recent acquisition, Innovative Signal Analysis (ISA). This move enhances their capabilities in processing radio frequency (RF) signals, a timely expansion as the U.S. Space Force plans to increase its own investment in space-based sensors. HawkEye 360 operates a constellation of more than 30 satellites that fly in clusters of three to detect, geolocate, and analyze RF emissions. This formation-flying technique allows for precise triangulation of signals from sources like maritime vessels, emergency beacons, and military communication systems. The company aims to grow its constellation to 60 satellites. The company's technology has significant national security and defense applications, providing mission-critical intelligence to the U.S. government and allied partners. They hold contracts with the National Reconnaissance Office and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to provide RF data and analytics that help monitor global activities and increase situational awareness. Beyond defense, the platform addresses critical maritime challenges. By identifying RF signals, HawkEye 360 can detect "dark vessels" that have turned off their AIS tracking systems to evade monitoring, a significant issue with over 1,000 instances occurring monthly. This capability is crucial for combating illegal fishing and monitoring the 20% of global maritime operations affected by GNSS jamming and spoofing.
