New Emails Link Reid Hoffman, Jeffrey Epstein

Newly released emails reveal deeper connections between LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The communications reportedly show Epstein courting Silicon Valley elites on Hoffman's behalf, shedding more light on the extent of their ties.

The newly disclosed emails include scheduling notes for Hoffman to visit Epstein's various properties, including his Manhattan townhouse, New Mexico ranch, and the private Caribbean island, Little St. James. One 2014 memo noted that Hoffman and then-MIT Media Lab director Joi Ito were scheduled for a weekend at Epstein's ranch. This isn't the first time Hoffman's connection to Epstein has surfaced. Hoffman has previously apologized for his association with Epstein, stating his interactions were for fundraising purposes for the MIT Media Lab. He admitted that by associating with Epstein, he helped repair the financier's reputation and delayed justice for his survivors. Following the latest document release, Hoffman acknowledged more meetings with Epstein than he had previously disclosed. He updated his account to include additional fundraising meetings in 2016 and 2018, having previously stated their last contact was in 2015. The venture capitalist has been a significant political donor and sits on the board of Microsoft. Critics and shareholder groups have called for his removal from the Microsoft board, citing the reputational liability of his ties to the convicted sex offender. Epstein actively cultivated relationships with numerous Silicon Valley elites long after his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor for prostitution. Newly released documents show Epstein was invited to exclusive dinners attended by figures like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Google's co-founders, often organized by the Edge network, which Epstein substantially funded. The emails reveal a more personal dimension to the relationship than just fundraising, with exchanges about gifts. In a now scrutinized December 2014 email, Hoffman mentioned sending "ice cream...for the girls" and a metal sculpture for Epstein's island. The revelations have fueled a public dispute between Reid Hoffman and Elon Musk, both of whom were part of the early "PayPal mafia." Musk has emphasized that while he was invited, he never visited Epstein's island, contrasting his actions with Hoffman's admitted visit.
