McIntosh Dominates Pro Swim Series

Olympic champion Summer McIntosh won gold in the 200m butterfly and crushed the 200m freestyle in 1:53.80 at the 2026 Pro Swim Series. The Canadian star's dominant performances reinforce her status as one of swimming's brightest young talents.

McIntosh's 200m butterfly victory came in a blistering 2:04.72, leaving the competition more than four seconds behind. This time was not only the fastest in the world this year but also the 25th fastest in history. The win was a strong rebound after she finished second to the legendary Katie Ledecky in the 800m freestyle earlier in the meet. Her 200m freestyle win was even more historic, as she set a new U.S. Open and Pro Swim Series record with a time of 1:53.80. This performance was just 0.15 seconds off her personal best time, which ranks as the fifth-fastest of all time. The time would have been swift enough to secure a silver medal at the previous year's World Championships. These wins are just the latest in a series of dominant performances for the Canadian teenager, who is already a three-time Olympic champion and eight-time World Aquatics champion. She holds the world records in the 400m freestyle, 200m individual medley, and 400m individual medley. McIntosh has been a dominant force in the 200m butterfly, winning back-to-back world titles in 2022 and 2023. At the 2025 World Championships, she became the first Canadian to win three gold medals at a single championship and the first to win three world titles in the same event. Her time of 2:01.99 in that race was the fastest ever in a textile suit, just missing the 2009 "super suit" era world record.
