Pont Neuf goes immersive

Paris’ Pont Neuf has been transformed into an immersive art landmark — a temporary public art installation turning the historic bridge into a new cultural draw for city explorers . It’s the kind of city‑center, walkable experience that pairs well with museum hopping and evening dinner plans nearby.

La Caverne du Pont Neuf will be open to the public from June 6–28, 2026, the artist’s press release announced jr-art.net. The work spans roughly 120 metres and rises about 17–18 metres, formed from some 80 structural arches covered by approximately 18,900 m² of printed canvas that will be inflated over the bridge, organizers said connexionfrance.com. JR is presenting the project in coordination with the Christo and Jeanne‑Claude Foundation and L’Amicale des Ponts de Paris, with the installation privately financed and subject to extensive technical studies and authorizations, the project team stated jr-art.net. The experience will include an original sound environment by Thomas Bangalter and augmented‑reality elements developed with Snap’s AR Studio, and full‑scale tests are being carried out in a hangar at Orly ahead of the June showing, multiple outlets report traveltomorrow.com.
