Clean Eatz Launches GLP-1 Meal Plan
Clean Eatz Kitchen unveiled a new subscription-free, dietitian-designed GLP-1 meal plan tailored for users of Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Mounjaro®. The plan prioritizes high protein and portion control to complement GLP-1 medications, reflecting the growing intersection of clinical nutrition and meal delivery.
The new meal plan addresses a critical nutritional challenge for the rapidly growing number of GLP-1 medication users: muscle loss. Without adequate protein, up to 40% of weight lost on these drugs can be lean muscle, which can slow metabolism and reduce strength. Dietitians recommend that individuals on GLP-1 medications consume between 80 and 120 grams of protein daily to counteract muscle loss. The Clean Eatz plan is designed around this, with each meal containing an average of 30 grams of protein and ranging from 300-500 calories to fit within a reduced appetite. Beyond protein, the meals focus on managing common medication side effects. By being lower in fat and rich in fiber (25-35g daily), the plan aims to minimize issues like nausea and constipation that can be significant for users. Clean Eatz, founded in 2013 by Don and Evonne Varady, began as a cafe and meal prep service aimed at making healthy eating accessible. The company has since expanded to over 100 franchise locations, with a dual model of in-cafe dining and pre-packaged meal plans. The service enters a competitive market, with other companies like Factor and BistroMD also offering GLP-1 tailored plans. Clean Eatz distinguishes itself by not requiring a subscription, allowing users to order as-needed to align with fluctuating appetites, a common experience on these medications. Meals are shipped frozen, a deliberate choice to reduce food waste, as the unpredictable nature of appetite suppression on GLP-1 drugs can make it difficult for users to finish a full week's worth of fresh meals before they expire.
