Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake Official

Ubisoft officially revealed "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Resynced," confirming the long-rumored remake. They also described Hexe as "unique, darker" and confirmed progress on the PvP-focused Invictus multiplayer project.

The original *Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag* was released in 2013 and is widely considered a high point for the series. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the game was praised for seamlessly blending land-based stealth with robust naval combat and exploration across a vast Caribbean open world. It sold over 11 million copies by 2014 and won the Spike VGX 2013 award for Best Action Adventure Game. The game's protagonist, the charismatic Welsh pirate Edward Kenway, remains a fan favorite for his compelling character arc from a greedy privateer to a member of the Assassin Brotherhood. The story also featured iconic historical figures from the Golden Age of Piracy, including Blackbeard and Charles Vane. Beyond the main narrative, players fondly remember collecting sea shanties for their crew to sing while sailing the Jackdaw, Edward's upgradable ship. Early reports suggest the remake is in development at Ubisoft Singapore, a studio that played a key role in creating the naval combat for the original series and more recently developed the pirate game *Skull and Bones*. Leaks point to "Resynced" being a substantial remake with significant visual and gameplay upgrades, and may even feature new story content expanding on Edward Kenway's life. However, it is also rumored that the original's modern-day story sections may be removed. The reveal of the *Black Flag* remake was part of a broader update on the future of the franchise. This includes *Assassin's Creed Hexe*, a title described as a "unique, darker, narrative-driven" experience. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, it is reportedly set during the 16th-century witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire. Rumors suggest *Hexe* will be a more linear game than recent massive RPG entries and may feature a female protagonist named Elsa with supernatural abilities. This project is part of the *Assassin's Creed Infinity* hub, a platform designed to connect different games and experiences within the series. Ubisoft also confirmed progress on *Assassin's Creed Invictus*, a standalone player-vs-player multiplayer game. The project is being led by veterans from the *For Honor* team at Ubisoft Montreal. The company has stated that *Invictus* will be a "new approach to multiplayer" and is not what rumors have suggested, with plans to involve the community early in the development process.
