Manitoba opened the first booking window for its 2026 provincial park camping season on Monday, April 13, starting with cabins, yurts and group-use areas. (gov.mb.ca) The province is staggering reservations over five days, with bookings opening at 7 a.m. each day through Friday, April 17. Tuesday covers Birds Hill, Winnipeg Beach and Grand Beach campgrounds, and Wednesday covers Whiteshell Provincial Park campgrounds. (gov.mb.ca) Thursday’s window covers northern and western campgrounds including Bakers Narrows, Paint Lake, Wekusko Falls, Asessippi and Kiche Manitou. Friday opens the remaining sites, including Birch Point, Camp Morton, Hecla-Gull Harbour, St. Malo and Nopiming campgrounds. (gov.mb.ca) The reservation system covers 46 locations in Manitoba’s provincial parks and lets people book campsites, cabins, yurts and group-use areas. Reservations can be made online, by phone at 1-888-482-2267, or in person at 1181 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. (gov.mb.ca) This year’s rollout adds a new availability notification tool. Account holders can set up to five alerts and get an email if a matching campsite opens up. (gov.mb.ca) The province is also using a virtual waiting room before 7 a.m. on opening days, with users placed in a queue if demand spikes. Manitoba said the staggered schedule is intended to manage heavy traffic and smooth out the booking process. (gov.mb.ca) Campers now face a new $10 cancellation fee on top of the separate non-refundable $10 reservation fee charged when a booking is made. Manitoba said the cancellation charge is meant to offset costs and discourage people from holding sites they do not plan to use. (gov.mb.ca; gov.mb.ca) Some sites will not be available in 2026. Black Lake Campground and Tulabi Short Haul sites are listed as closed for the season on the province’s reservation page. (gov.mb.ca) A reservation holds a site until 11 a.m. the next day if a camper is late, according to Manitoba’s reservation guide. Full payment is required at booking for campsites, cabins and yurts, and the reservation must be in the name of the person who checks in with government-issued identification. (gov.mb.ca) The booking windows are only the start of the season, not the only chance to reserve. Manitoba says the Parks Reservation Service stays open through the camping season, even after this week’s opening rush. (gov.mb.ca)
