PUMA x LaQuan Smith Speedcat Drops
PUMA launched the Speedcat Women's Mid Sneaker collaboration with designer LaQuan Smith in "For All Time Red-PUMA Black." The shoe fuses retro motorsport aesthetics with modern streetwear flair, positioned as a standout for both athletic and casual styling.
This marks the second collaboration between PUMA and the New York-based designer LaQuan Smith, following their debut collection in February 2023. That initial release featured reworked versions of the Kosmo Rider and RS-X sneaker silhouettes, with prices ranging from $60 to $120. The first collection focused on a "futuristic athleisure" look with a moody color palette and metallic details. The new collection pivots from the futuristic feel to a boxing-inspired aesthetic, aiming to merge the raw power of the sport with Smith's signature glamour. The Speedcat Mid, with its high-ankle silhouette and laces that wrap up the calf, is the centerpiece of this theme. The sneaker is priced at $180. Beyond the Speedcat, the collaboration includes a full apparel line designed to look good in and out of the ring. The collection features pieces like tear-away pants, cropped jackets, and boxing shorts with satin finishes and studded graphics, continuing the boxing-chic theme. Queens-born designer LaQuan Smith, who launched his brand in 2013, is known for his unapologetically glamorous and sensual designs. His work is a favorite among celebrities like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Khloé Kardashian, and Lori Harvey, who are frequently seen in his curve-hugging and statement-making pieces.
