Texas LNG Project Secures $4B Builder
The Texas LNG project in Brownsville secured builder Kiewit for its $4 billion export terminal, as global demand for U.S. liquefied natural gas surges.
Kiewit's contract includes engineering, procurement, and construction for the first two liquefaction trains, each capable of producing 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. This positions Texas LNG to significantly contribute to the growing U.S. LNG export market. The Brownsville location offers access to the vast natural gas reserves in Texas, as well as proximity to key shipping lanes. This makes it a strategic hub for LNG exports to global markets. The project anticipates creating thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of long-term operational roles in the Brownsville area. This represents a substantial economic boost for the region. Texas LNG is still awaiting a final investment decision (FID), but this selection of Kiewit is a major step forward. The company expects to reach FID and begin construction shortly thereafter.
