Tech Mahindra Partners with Nvidia on AI for Telcos

This collaboration will leverage the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, including tools like the NeMo framework for building language models and NIM microservices for deployment. Tech Mahindra aims to integrate these into its existing Autonomous Network Operations Platform (ANOP) to create a Multi-Modal Network Operations Large Model for telcos. The goal is to elevate telecom networks to "Level 4" autonomy, enabling them to become intent-based, self-driving systems. In a previous deployment with a European CSP, Tech Mahindra's existing AI-driven platform reduced the mean time to resolve network incidents by more than 50% and cut operational costs by 20%. This partnership addresses the immense complexity of modern networks; 70% of a network engineer's time can be consumed by manual incident resolution. The rise of 5G, with its network densification and massive device connectivity, along with future 6G demands, makes manual management unsustainable. NVIDIA's strategy centers on its AI-on-5G platform, which combines 5G and edge AI computing on a single, converged infrastructure. This approach avoids building and managing separate systems, which NVIDIA describes as "incredibly inefficient." Key hardware includes the NVIDIA BlueField-2 A100, a card that merges GPUs and DPUs. This is part of a wider industry push toward "AI-RAN" (AI-Radio Access Network). NVIDIA is a founding member of the AI-RAN Alliance, which seeks to make future 6G networks AI-native and software-defined from the ground up. According to a recent NVIDIA survey, 89% of telecom operators plan to increase their AI spending in 2026.
