Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Priced
Ford officially priced the new Mustang Dark Horse SC at $103,490 before taxes and fees. The supercharged variant represents the top end of Ford's pony car performance lineup, targeting enthusiasts who want track-ready power straight from the showroom.
The Dark Horse SC serves as the spiritual successor to the Shelby GT500, which ended its run in 2022. It features a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, similar to the GT500's "Predator" V8, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ford has not yet released official horsepower figures, but they are expected to be well over 700, landing between the 760 hp of the previous GT500 and the 815 hp of the ultra-exclusive Mustang GTD. This model is a significant step up from the standard Mustang Dark Horse, which uses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 to produce 500 horsepower. The SC model was developed by the Ford Racing division to be the most track-capable Mustang Dark Horse, leveraging lessons from the Mustang GT3 and GTD race programs. Chassis and aerodynamic enhancements are extensive, including next-generation MagneRide dampers, revised springs, new stabilizer bars, and a lightweight magnesium strut tower brace. A new aluminum hood features a massive vent that, with its rain tray removed, creates 2.5 times the downforce of the standard Dark Horse hood. For ultimate track performance, a $36,500 Track Pack is available. This package adds Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes from the GTD, lightweight carbon-fiber wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, and more aggressive aerodynamics, including a rear wing that helps generate 620 pounds of downforce at 180 mph. The Track Pack also removes the rear seats to save weight.
