Patagonia's Bikepacking Challenge Underway
100 cyclists from 24 countries just kicked off the first Final Frontier Patagonia—a self-supported bikepacking race from Puerto Montt (Chile) to Ushuaia (Argentina) Desafío ciclista enfrenta a participantes de 24 países en un recorrido de 2.900 kilómetros entre Puerto Montt y Ushuaia – Publimetro Chile. That's 2,900 kilometers through remote national parks!
The Final Frontier Patagonia began on March 8, 2026, sending cyclists on a 2,700 km unsupported journey from Puerto Montt, Chile, to Ushuaia, Argentina. Participants have 21 days to complete the route, which crosses the borders of Chile and Argentina multiple times and traverses at least ten national parks. The event emphasizes personal goals and connection with the landscape over competition. The course follows remote gravel roads and trails with over 25,000 meters of cumulative climbing, requiring physical and mental endurance. Besides the full route, riders can opt for shorter "Finisher Stages": the Huemul (650 km in 7 days), the Guanaco (1,619 km in 15 days), and the Puma (2,250 km in 18 days). The Final Frontier Patagonia is part of the Bike Adventure Series, which promotes self-supported, long-distance journeys.
