Slice House Pizza to Open in Fremont
Slice House by Tony Gemignani will open a new location in Fremont at 43456 Boscell Road. The fast-casual pizza restaurant is taking over the space formerly occupied by Dog Haus.
- The Fremont location is a homecoming for founder Tony Gemignani, a 13-time World Pizza Champion who is originally from the city. The franchisees, Hersh Mahavni and Pritika Rajasanshi, also grew up in the Fremont area. - Gemignani opened the first Slice House in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood in 2010, next door to his acclaimed Tony's Pizza Napoletana. The goal was to offer his famous pizza by the slice without the long waits his full-service restaurant was known for. - The fast-casual franchise has been expanding rapidly, with over 140 units open or in development across several states. The franchise program was officially launched in July 2022 after the takeout and delivery model proved successful during the pandemic. - Slice House is known for offering a variety of pizza styles, including New York, Sicilian, Detroit, and Grandma-style, available as whole pies or by the slice. The menu also features gluten-free and vegetarian options. - One of the signature dishes is the "Cal Italia" pizza, a Gold Medal winner on the Food Network, which includes toppings like asiago, mozzarella, gorgonzola, sweet fig preserve, and prosciutto di Parma. - Beyond pizza, the menu typically includes items like chicken wings, meatballs, salads, and pasta dishes. - The Fremont outpost is part of a broader Bay Area expansion, with existing locations in cities like Belmont, Mountain View, and Walnut Creek, and another recently opened in Livermore.
