Honey BBQ Sauce Recall Alert

Savannah Bee Co. jars labeled 'Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard' are being recalled due to undeclared wheat and soy, posing a risk for those with allergies. The recall affects specific batches of the mislabeled product.

The recall was triggered by a customer who discovered that a jar labeled "Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard" actually contained "Honey BBQ Sauce-Sweet". This mislabeling is critical because the "Sweet" variety contains wheat and soy, which were not listed on the "Mustard" label, posing a risk to consumers with allergies. The specific batch affected is B1L1360525 with a "Best Before" date of 05/16/27 and a UPC of 8 50033 93758 9. These mislabeled jars were shipped nationwide to distribution centers, retail stores, and directly to consumers over a seven-month period from July 30, 2025, to February 26, 2026. Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to dispose of it and can contact the company for a full refund. Undeclared allergens are a serious public health concern, as they can lead to severe or life-threatening reactions in individuals with food allergies. Wheat and soy are two of the nine major food allergens identified by the FDA that require explicit labeling on food products. Savannah Bee Company, founded in 2002, has grown from a local honey producer into a national brand with retail stores across the Southeast. The company, started by beekeeper Ted Dennard, also co-founded The Bee Cause Project, a nonprofit that places beehives in schools to educate children about bees.
