Star Trek Voyager Game Gets Easier

Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown has received a rebalancing update that introduces manual saves and eases difficulty, making it more accessible for both new and returning players. The update addresses player feedback about the game's challenging mechanics. This follows recent strategy game updates including Age of Empires II's 'Battle for Greece' campaign and new content for other tactical titles.

The rogue-lite survival strategy game, *Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown*, launched on February 18, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by the German studio Gamexcite, known previously for several *Asterix & Obelix* games, the title saw immediate success, selling over 100,000 copies in just its first four days. Published by Daedalic Entertainment, the game places players in command of the USS Voyager, tasking them with managing resources and crew through 12 procedurally generated sectors on the long journey back to Earth. The gameplay, which takes 15-20 hours to complete, is heavily text-based and has been compared to titles like *FTL* and *Fallout Shelter*. Despite a "mostly positive" reception on Steam, a significant portion of player feedback centered on the game's challenging difficulty, the lack of a manual save feature, and the random nature of its success/failure mechanics. Players reported struggling with resource management and feeling that game outcomes were overly dependent on luck-based numerical rolls. The developer, Gamexcite, was quick to respond to the feedback. A small hotfix was released on February 20, 2026, which included some initial balancing adjustments and improved the visibility of the autosave function as a first step. This was followed by the more substantial update that introduced a manual save system and further rebalanced the game's difficulty to address the core complaints from the player base.
