Soul Artist Celebrates Black Womanhood
Simone Green released her new single "Black Queen," celebrating Black womanhood and empowerment with soulful vocals and uplifting lyrics. The track has been recognized for both its cultural significance and dynamic sound, blending classic soul traditions with contemporary production.
Chicago-based vocalist Simone Green has been a fixture in the city's soul scene since relocating from Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1997. Before her solo career gained national attention, she co-founded the beloved band Soul Sanctuary, consistently playing to sold-out crowds and solidifying her roots in the local music community. "Black Queen" was released on February 24, 2026, through the Chicago-based label Soulistic 360. The track was co-written by Green and Jeffery Dillard, with production from SFR and Arnell Newman, and features backing vocals by Natalie Mayfield. It was recorded at Pressure Point Recording Studios in Chicago. This new single follows a history of notable achievements, including the #1 independent radio hit "We Could Be." Green has also lent her voice to award-winning national advertising campaigns for major brands such as Walmart, Toyota, and the Illinois Lottery. Beyond her music career, Green has maintained a 26-year career as a director at a legal staffing company. She manages her own singing career, booking her own gigs, writing contracts, and hiring her own musicians, showcasing a remarkable balance between her corporate and creative pursuits. Green's powerful stage presence has been showcased in a series of high-profile performances. She has opened for artists like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dru Hill, and Ledisi at events including the 2025 Urban League Gala and the South Shore Summer Festival. She also performed at the 2025 Black Women's Expo and the inauguration of Illinois' first Black Speaker of the House, Emmanuel “Chris” Welch. While there are no official tour dates or album announcements at this time, an announcement for new live performances is expected soon.
